Blind Disco: About

HOW DID THE DISCO START?

Before the pandemic we would dance. Sometimes I would motivate corporate conference-goers to dance for 2 mins. During a workshop, I would ask people to close their eyes and dance. We'd debrief the experience as a metaphor for risk taking & innovation. But primarily I did it to dance.

Alone at my computer for the 103rd night of lockdown I thought, what if I did this with friends? What if we did it with cocktails over Zoom? I sent twenty friends an email inviting them to play with an idea... what if we stopped talking over Zoom? What if we just close our eyes and dance?

The first Blind Disco started with a little chit-chat, a short tutorial, and then my little sister barked....

"Okay, enough. Let's dance!"

I realized then that this was going to be easy. People wanted what I wanted - to just dance.

Many months have passed. And we keep doing the Disco.

Harvard and MIT both hosted custom DiscoBoxes. We danced and debriefed the importance of play.

OK... BUT WHY DISCO?

I believe most people wonder about who they could be.

They are always testing the edges of themselves. Movement and interacting with the universe is one of the best ways to explore what is possible within you.

When you dance you have a vision of yourself, your body, the visible and invisible elements in your world.

Dancing forces you to integrate everything.... the music, your body, the people, the lights, the mood. You create a new way of being.

When we dance with every beat we are unconsciously constructing a system for our spirit to be released.
